WAITSFIELD, Vermont – Wood & Wood’s commercial monument sign for the Haystack Club received third place honors in the 2008 ISA International Sign Contest sponsored by Sign Of The Times, one of the industry’s leading trade magazines. The entry was singled out from over 295 qualified entries.

In 2006, an investment group began transforming the Haystack Ski Area in Wilmington, VT, into a private, gated community under the direction of David Dillon, the past acting Haystack Club president. Dillon had a very clear vision
of the overall “look and feel” he wanted for the community’s wayfinding sign system. Translating the Club’s classic brand and logo component became a collaborative effort between Dillon and the talented artistry of Sparky Potter,
the president of Wood & Wood. Early on in the design process David was very interested in making the entry statement more like a sculpture then a traditional sign. Potter says, “Part of my design inspiration came from the contemporary Haystack Club’s logo shapes and the newly blasted natural stone found on
site.” The two sided 25.5-sq.ft. monument sign face with 11.7 sq. ft. sculpted metal logo were fabricated and installed by Wood & Wood’s staff of crafts
people in concert with David DiPentima of Bella Fiore Landscaping.
