It has been Sparky and Peggy Potter’s pioneering spirit, artistic flare, and diligence
that has cultivated such an impressive client base at Wood & Wood. In 1972, when other sign companies were promoting the use of metal and plastic, Wood & Wood
Sign Systems was one of three sign companies in New England promoting the use
of wood. The couple saw an opportunity and began carving a niche by focusing on
a high degree of art and “Old World” craftsmanship, thus establishing the benchmark
for a new industry. A good example of their legacy is The Ice House restaurant sign
on Burlington’s waterfront, painted in 1976.
Since that time, numerous destination resorts, theme parks and restaurants have
engaged Wood & Wood to design and develop distinctive signs and sign systems.
A founding father of the sign industry, Sparky Potter has taken art to the public with inimitable style.
